A Symposium co-sponsored by the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), Istanbul; Koç University's Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (RCAC), the Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum, dpt. of Ancient Navigation, the Austrian Archaeological Institute, and the Istanbul Archaeology Museums

This international and interdisciplinary conference aims to combine the presentation of recent discoveries from survey and excavation of harbors and harbor cities in the eastern Mediterranean with analytical sections that focus on general topics such as the urbanism of Mediterranean harbor cities, their economy, and spatial organization; the definition of regions by maritime trade routes, and the study of harbors through the use of geoarchaeological methods.
